Bad Comments are Golden (So True..)

Comments form a viral part of each blogger’s online life. A blog without comments is taken as sin and Comments are what bloggers lurk for. It is the comments that give authors inspiration to write more and share their feelings with the community.

Each community receives comments, varying from super good to even spammy comments which just popularise their link with a bullshit information.Recently, I was reading the interview of Chris Brogan on TechnoTip where he was asked :

With all the efforts to earn the Trust(for the sake of trust), when our blog readers/customers give bad personal comments, how does it feel about the trust that we have built?

And the answer came :

Bad comments are golden. Value these like you value nothing else. They are moments where you must reflect on the value of what your customers have told you, and decide what you must improve, or whether it’s just someone complaining. In either case, thank them. They’ve taken the time to voice their concern.

I thought on the first line and something inside me inspired me to write and share my feelings about this line. The line really got me attracted and I thought to write a post on it.Really SORRY to Chris Brogan for writing on his line but My fingers are forcing me to write on this golden line.

Bad Comments are Golden

A simple line with such deep meaning. On my blog I receive comments of people of all kinds, some praising, some advicing, some really rude ones but I never stagger in publishing them as they are the viewpoints of the community and the user took certain time to read the post and then gave a comment. The time and the efforts of the user should be respected as what he did was for my good. It depends on me how I take his comment as a downturn or a challenge to overcome and please the same user through other posts.

Bad comments form a part and parcel of blog. Wherever I comment I know that their must have been bad comments whom this blog author overcomed and got those turned into nice ones and praises. That what remains the challenge of a blogger and not being depressed by such bad comments.

There’s a saying :

Keep You Enemies As Close As You Can

The same would I recommend for a blog :

Follow Bad Comments As Much As You Can

Take the bad comments as a challenge, its like a fierce advice of the commentor and you need to overcome this fierce advice turning the emotions and reactions of that user towards you blog and your posts. Usually A spam or a Trash button is the best clicked for a bad comment on any blog (YES, IT’S TRUTH…..EVEN I DID IT EARLIER) . Much before I realised that the person in the comment was true and showed me my weakness, the only reason I deleted his comment. I promised myself to turn those comments into positive ones and took note of the things he mentioned in his comments. Yes , it was rude but it had a sense of truth which I never realised. Working on it I give all Credits to the bad comments that my blog is progressing and I am getting double the pageviews I was getting Earlier.

Bad comments turned out to be a golden egg changing the world of blogging for me and my blog giving new definitions, constant news ideas and updating me with my weaknesses so that I can Overcome them.

Thank You Bad Comments

    Hello Karan,

Great post – you’re dead right. Bad comments are giving you a big clue as to how your blog is doing. Of course, there’s no need for everyone to agree on everything all the time – different opinions are to be valued – but can co-exist surely.

Let me congratulate you on your blog. I hope you won’t be offended if I say that, if you had not mentioned that you are fifteen, I would have assumed that it was written by someone a lot older. You write very well and are covering some interesting topics in your posts.
