When Amit Bhawani took a decision to switch from Amitbhawani.com to Techadvices.com the reasons he gave for switching the domain name was

One cannot run a tech blog with personal name as domain name, it is unprofessional and needs to be changed to a much professional name.

I totally agreed with his decision at that point but who knows that the decision costed him a lot.What blunder took place when Amitbhawani.com became techadvices.com

• It was hit by Google Panda.

• Site’s rankings fell to a great extent – Alexa, Google Pagerank and even Search Engine Rankings.

• Traffic and Revenue almost went to half.

And now Techadvices.com has been switched back to Amitbhawani.com and is recovering from Panda is again gaining back the rankings. So, the switching lane gave us great morals.

• Domain name age does matter a lot. The top fact that could have affected the Techadvices ranking is its domain name age which was nothing as compared to long 4 years of amitbhawani.com .

• Even if a blogger becomes so great, mistakes can take place but one needs to take the right action even if commited a wrong action (Like Amit Bhawani took decision to move back to signature domain. )

• Last but not the least, Think a thousand times before starting a blog. Imagine it 4-5 years from the time and then select a domain name and go for it.

The quiz was held on 17th November 2011 at St. Thomas School Delhi. The best part of the quiz was the songs played before the quiz so that we couldn’t get bored. After initial entry, we were given a paper with 30 blanks, a pen and a Limca Book of Records Book. Seated in the auditorium the songs kept the momentum going and finally one of the Derek O’ Brien Associates was up to conduct the quiz. The rules were explained which were as simple : 30 Questions on Screen and top six teams to answer correctly would be selected for the further hard core quiz on the stage.

As soon as the quiz was over, soft drinks were thrown open to the students and back to the hall results were announced. The six teams were announced and unfortunately, we weren’t one of them . The cut off went to 22 correct answers and as per me we would have approx 19-20 correct answers. Well, Better Luck Next Time.And then the quiz conductor proceded with six rounds with the six teams leading to New Era Public School making the mark with highest score in the stage quiz round. Arnav Sharma & K.S. Roshan Menon were the winners of the Limca Book of Records Quiz Delhi Round.

For those who are yet to participate in the upcoming Limca Book of Records Quiz I have a few suggestions.

• Go for Indian General Knowledge Questions as 75% of the quiz questions were related to India and its history.
• Know the questions asked in previous Limca Book of Records Quiz in other cities.
